Mary McCrossan

Mary Frances “Francie” McCrossan (nee Smyth), age 98, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on December 16, 2020. Born on January 13, 1922, in Anaharnathy, Virgina, County Cavan, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Marie Smyth (nee Daly).

Francie grew up on a farm in Virginia, County Cavan.  Before coming to the United States, she was a Mental Health Care Nurse at Monahan Mental Hospital. Francie moved to the United States in November 1947. She married Felix McCrossan in 1951 and moved from Philadelphia to Upper Darby where they had six children. Felix passed away in 1972 and Francie continued raising six children, ages 18 to 8, and got a job at the Upper Darby Police Department. After working there for 25 years, she retired. She then went on to work part time alongside her daughter, Bernadette, at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals. Francie also did volunteer work at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Francie was the beloved wife of the late Felix Bernard McCrossan; loving mother of Denis McCrossan (Char), Marguerite Barbeau (Richard), Bernadette Cupit (Gary), Philip McCrossan (Kimberly), Tyrone McCrossan (Lisa), and Elizabeth Tiberi (Mario); devoted grandmother of Sean, Lauren, Kristin, Andrew, Amanda, Owen, Colin, Julia, Emma, Payton, Bernadette, and Grace; dear great-grandmother of Maureen, Quinn, Cole, Ryan, Brady, Shane, Kaitlyn, Bree, and Declan. Mary is predeceased by her siblings Maggie, Anna, Charlie, Rose, Brian, George and Bridie.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday, December 23, 2020 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
