Mary Patricia Tansey

March 11, 1955 — December 31, 2024

Mary Patricia Tansey (nee Sullivan) of Highland Park Upper Darby passed away at Lankenau Hospital on December 31, 2024 at the age of 69.

She was born at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital on March 11, 1955 to parents John Sullivan of Kilmovee, Ireland and Margaret Sullivan (nee Caulfield) of Glann, Ireland. Mary is survived by her loving husband of nearly 45 years, John Tansey, daughter Eileen Coyle (Luke), sons John Tansey and Brendan Tansey, and daughter Mary Kathleen Tansey. She is also survived by her siblings Peggy Anne Clancy (Vince), John Sullivan (late Corinne), James Sullivan (late Christine), and Eileen Tyrrell (Jim). She leaves behind her adoring granddaughters Amelia, Evelyn, and Clara and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast and graduated from Kutztown University. She commuted home on the weekends to work, and it was during this time that she met John. Mary went on to teach at Overbrook School for the blind. She later married and took over as the book keeper for the family business.

Mom of four, but mother to many, Mary always put everyone before herself. She was known for her delicious homemade cookies, crocheted blankets which have traveled world wide, devotion to Saint Therese, and most of all, her kind and loving heart. There are no words to describe how deeply she will be missed.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, but friends and family are encouraged to keep her memory alive by sharing the wonderful memories they may have of her.
