Marygene Broussard
Of the Quadrangle, Haverford, PA, age 80, died peacefully Saturday, April 15th, 2023 surrounded by her family and close friends. Born Marygene Baker in Philadelphia, PA on May 3rd, 1942, she was a graduate of St. Basil Academy in Jenkintown, PA. Marygene married the love of her life, James Broussard, in 1961 and spent 58 years building an extraordinary family. They worked together as a team to create a lifetime of amazing memories.
Marygene’s most cherished role was being a loving wife to Jim. Despite the tragic loss of their precious daughter, Jeannine, in 1985 that forever left a gaping hole in their hearts, together they were able to live a beautiful life of service to others. Marygene and Jim were devout Catholics and their lives embodied the Christian values of the love of God and service to others. Their generosity knew no bounds.
Marygene was a woman who lived life to the fullest. When she set her mind to something, she went at it full throttle. Among her many interests, she fostered numerous children, loved birds, needlepoint, training for marathons, and making fine chocolates-the best in Delaware County.
She loved her home in Drexel Hill, especially her spectacular garden and enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, NJ SkyTop in the Poconos where “Team Broussard” created fine memories. They welcomed their extended family into their vacation homes where love and fellowship abounded.
Late in life, she faced many medical challenges and sadness after the passing of her dear Jim. But what was a theme throughout her life, she continued to spread joy to all those she encountered.
Marygene is survived by her children Danielle (John), Matthew, and Odette; her grandchildren Jeannine, Christopher, Naomi, and Grayson; her siblings Bunny, Paul (Ruthie), Joe (Connie), Susan, and Mike (Beth); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Jim, and her daughter Jeannine, she is predeceased by her parents Paul and Elizabeth Baker, and her brother Pete and sister-in-law Lisa.
