Marylyn Stinson Ward of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Avalon, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2023. She was 81 years old.
Born on September 29, 1941, in Philadelphia to the late George Patrick Ward and Mary Stinson Ward, Marylyn is survived by her brother, George Peter Ward, Sr. and his wife Joan Aitken Ward of Ponte Vedra, FL; nephew Richard C. Ward of Ponte Vedra, FL; and nephew George Peter Ward, Jr. and his wife Anne Reynolds Ward of Duxbury, Ma.
Marylyn graduated from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School and earned her undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she was an active member of the women’s tennis team and the Newman Club. She retired in 2004 after a long career as a school psychologist with the Philadelphia school system. Marylyn believed in the power of education and making a difference in the lives of children.
Marylyn enjoyed summers in Avalon, NJ, and holidays and special occasions with her grand-niece Mary Katherine Ward, and grand-nephews George Henry Ward and John Reynolds Ward. The family wishes to express gratitude to all those at Symphony Square, Guardian Angels and Main Line Hospice who cared for Marylyn.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 on Wednesday, June 14, viewing from 9-10 AM in Church, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken.
