Maude P. Stowers (née Beale), 95, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on August 15, 2022.
Born in September 1926, in Concordville, PA, Maude was the daughter of William Kirke and Mary “May” (née McElhaney) Beale.
Maude is survived by her children; John R. Paxton III and Larry W. Paxton, and Laurel E. Paxton.
She spent her early formative years in Chester County at her family’s farm milking cows, raising crops, and feeding chickens.
Maude attended Unionville School and was a 1944 graduate and class Salutatorian. She was a 1951 graduate of West Chester State Teachers College with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Unionville Elementary School from 1951 to 1954.
Maude married John “Jack” R. Paxton, Jr. in April 1954. Together they raised three children in their Gradyville, PA, residence. After the sudden death of her first husband, John R. Paxton Jr., in May 1966, Maude resumed her teaching career. She taught at Concord Elementary School, Garnet Valley School District, from 1966 to 1983.
In June 1980, Maude and Andrew L. Stowers were married. They lived their retirement years in Gradyville, PA while intermittently traveling throughout the United States until Andy died at the age of 90 in June 2005.
She lived a long, productive, unselfish life of service to her students, family, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, August 19, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
