Mercia M. T. Grassi, a beloved sister, aunt, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. Born on January 14, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, to her late parents, Lawrence Grassi and Maria Grassi (née Cura), Mercia was a lifelong advocate for education and a beacon of kindness to all who knew her.
A resident of Bryn Mawr, Mercia dedicated her career to academia as a professor at Drexel University, where she inspired generations of students before earning the title of Professor Emeritus. Her passion for teaching and commitment to education left an indelible mark on her community and beyond.
Mercia is survived by her brother, Lawrence A. Grassi (Janet M.), and her many cherished nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mercia’s life at her funeral mass, which will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova, located at 800 E. Lancaster Ave, Villanova, PA 19085.
