Mercia Tobin

October 24, 1919 — June 1, 2014

Mercia Helen Tobin (nee Rawlins), age 94, of Downingtown, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on June 1, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Cecilia Rawlins (nee Ford). She was employed as a Correspondence Clerk at the Veterans Administration in Philadelphia for 15 years.



Mercia was a great wife and homemaker. She was a faithful Catholic. She treasured her dear friend, Shirley. She enjoyed Scrabble and crossword puzzles. She was known by family and friends as a word wizard. She was grateful for the love and support from the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Immaculata.



Mercia was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Francis, and by her siblings: Edwin Ford Rawlins, Anna Doreen Heath, and Mary Virginia Rawlins. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Doreen Heath, Sister Ann Heath, I.H.M., Mary Viso, Patricia Lee, William Rawlins, and Robert Rawlins.



Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Tuesday, June 3, 2014 8:30-9:45 AM St. Elizabeth Church, 100 Fellowship Road, Chester Springs, PA followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Camilla Hall, 1149 W. King Road, Immaculata, PA 19345 would be appreciated.
