Meredith Hugh Spencer

Meredith Hugh Spencer passed away on April 12, 2023, at Cornerstone Drive, Newtown Square, PA.  He was 73.  He was preceded by his parents, Dr. Arthur M. Spencer and Joan Kirkland Spencer (nee Taylor) of Malvern, England, UK, and survived by a sister, Maya Vati Roberts nee Jean Spencer of Seaton, Devon, England, UK, and his wife, Cheryl. 

Hugh Spencer was born in Carmarthen, Wales, UK on July 5, 1949.  He immigrated to the United States, April 20, 1974, married Cheryl D. Spencer, (nee Eck) June 29, 1974, and became a citizen of the United States February 15, 1995.

Hugh attended Worcester Technical College, Worcester UK, Class of 1968, and graduated from University College, Cardiff, UK 1971, B.Sc. (Econ) (Wales) Industrial Relations.  Hugh was engaged in social work, retail, and shipping, concluding his career as a chaplain to seafarers in the Port of Milwaukee, WI.  He was an avid walker and a scholar with a life-long interest in transport and history.    He was a lifetime member of the Welsh Ffestiniog Railway Society.  He never forgot his British roots. He died without issue.  Hugh has, by faith, trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ, gone to heaven.  He will be truly missed by former neighbors, friends, and extended family.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 West Lancaster Ave., Paoli, PA 19301.  

Interment to take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Brick Church Cemetery, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA 17752.
