Michael J. Bradley passed away September 10, 2024. Beloved son of the late Mary Bradley.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette A. (nee Sherry) Bradley; Children, Michael J. Bradley Jr. (Linda), Christopher Bradley (Colleen), Dennis Bradley (Patricia), Thomas Bradley (Cathy), Bernadette Shaughnessy (Brian), Maureen Burke (Patrick), and Kerry Rescigno (Bill); Siblings, Mary Theresa Notorfrancesco, Anthony Pitetti, and Maryann Monteleone; 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Michael was predeceased by his dear son Joseph J. Bradley and siblings, Annamae Kelly, Franny Antes, Peter O’Kane, and Vince Pitetti.

Michael J. “Mickey” Bradley was born in West Philadelphia in 1930. He went to St Agatha’s Catholic Grammar School and graduated from his beloved St. Thomas More Catholic High School in 1949. Mickey and Bernie loved their days at Shanahan Catholic Club, where Mickey worked managing the bowling alley and sharpening his expert pool shooting skills. He honorably served his Country during the Korean War with the US Navy, honorably discharged in 1953. He married the love of his life, Bernadette (Bernie) Sherry in 1955, and they were happily wed for 69 years

They were blessed with 8 children: Michael, Joey, Christopher, Dennis, Tom, Bernadette Shaughnessy, Maureen Burke, and Kerry Rescigno. Tragedy struck in 1963 when Joey died at the age of 5. Mickey’s strong faith helped keep his young family together and the role model of “Father” was set in stone.

The family moved from St. Rose of Lima Parish in West Philadelphia to St. Charles Parish in Drexel Hill in 1960. In 1972 they moved to St John Chrysostom Parish in Wallingford. Their final move was to St. Thomas Parish in Glen Mills. Mickey was strong believer in his Catholic faith and walked the example of a Christian every day of his life. Faith, Family and Friends was the motto he wore on his sleeve every day.

He continued his education by attending night classes at Drexel and St. Josephs University’s, while raising young children at home. Education was paramount to him, and he was very proud to see his children and grandchildren follow his lead.

Mickey and Bernie took the bold move to start their own flooring business in 1973. The office would be in the house, and the boys would unload tractor trailers in front of the house. It was a very difficult start, but through hard work, perseverance and an unwavering commitment to core values, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. After 51 years, M.J. Bradley Co. Inc remains a very successful family-owned Epoxy Flooring company doing work throughout the Philadelphia region

Mickey loved to spend the summer at his shore house in Sea Isle City, NJ, and trips to Ireland. He created lasting memories with his family, friends, children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, Eagles season ticket holder, and loved Penn State Football.

Mickey has achieved many awards, but the one he especially cherished was The St Thomas More President’s Award for Dedicated Service to St. Thomas More Alumni Association. He was proud of his wife Bernie, 8 children, 23 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and they were proud of him. To know him was to love him. What greater life than to love and be loved, to live 94 years, to see not only your children’s children, but your grandchildren’s children as well.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mickey’s viewing on Friday September 13th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, September 14th from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St John Chrysostom Church, 617 S.
