Michael Timothy Dwyer of Newtown Square, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Jeanne Marie (nee Cooney) Dwyer. Together they raised four children: Michael T. (Christine) Dwyer, III, Colleen (Tom) Morris, Timothy (Jane) Dwyer and Kevin (Patricia) Dwyer. Mike received much joy as the proud PopPop of Mickey and Lauren Dwyer, Erin and Sean Morris, Maggie, John, Celia, Annie and Mary Kate Dwyer, and Shannon, Meghan, Kevin and Brendan Dwyer. Michael was the brother of June (deceased), Carole, and Ginny (deceased.)
Mike was born May 21, 1931 in Newark, NJ to Michael Timothy and Vera (nee McGrath) Dwyer. He attended Montclair Academy and St. Peter’s College from which he graduated in 1952. He was very patriotic and served in the United States Navy for two years before embarking on a career in chemical sales. He worked at the Monsanto Company before joining the FMC Corporation where he worked for over thirty years before retiring as National Sales Director.
Mike’s career took him all over the United States, moving with his family nine times before settling in the Philadelphia area. He valued the friendships he made throughout his career, often reminiscing about the people he knew in different parts of the country. An avid sports fan, Mike especially loved following New Jersey high school sports, reading the Newark Star Ledger daily. He also followed the New York Giants, Notre Dame football and Villanova basketball. He was a golfer who was a proud member of Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey. He was also a longtime member of St. Katharine of Siena Parish in Wayne, PA.
The viewing will be on Friday February 28, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087. A visitation will take place on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 South Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin promptly at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken.
