Michael T. Essery

Michael T. Essery, loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, devoted friend, mentor, successful sales professional, coach and entrepreneur, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2022, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife Laura, and their three children, Luke Michael, John Frederick, and Sadie Elizabeth; along with his parents, Frederick Sr., and Sandra of Havertown; his siblings, Frederick G. Essery Jr. (Lauren), Sarah Essery Lodise (Clinton) and Meredith Essery Treon (Michael), and his seven adoring nieces and nephews Connor, Owen, Maeve, Vivienne, Georgia, Josephine and London.  Also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Andy and Lori Hamilton, his sister-in-law Sarah Hamilton and brother-in-law Andrew Hamilton and many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Corr, Essery, Coneys and Hamilton families.

He was deeply dedicated to his family, friends, colleagues, teammates and players he coached.  Michael graduated from Sacred Heart Manoa, Cardinal O’Hara, and LaSalle University, where he excelled academically and athletically. As captain of the baseball teams, he received accolades including All Catholic, and All-City honors for baseball. He served as the Haverford High School Varsity Baseball Coach and over the years was involved in many tournament teams, assisted at the Hilltop Baseball league, and coached for Sacred Heart CYO. Michael also served as a District Sales Manager for CompX Security Products. Michael possessed an insatiable love for life, a passionate commitment to his family, friends and community, and a generous spirit to all those whom he came in contact with. He was known through Delaware County for his work ethic as well as his dance moves. His happiest moments were spent with his children and the love of his life, Laura. For those close to him, their happiest moments were often the ones shared with Michael.

Michael’s loved ones have ensured that his legacy will live on through organ donation and through that generous decision, Michael will touch countless others as the family members, friends, and communities of those who receive his donated organs will forever be impacted by their improved quality of life, made possible through these selfless gifts.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, November 25, 2022 5:00-8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and to his Funeral Mass Saturday, November 26, 2022 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gift of Life Donor Program and Transplant Foundation to continue to help those in need.
