Michael Ferrie, III

Michael J. "Turtle" Ferrie, III, age 57, of Upper Darby, PA, passed away on April 25, 2019. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son on the late Michael J. and Sara (nee O'Donnell) Ferrie. He will be remembered as a loving father, uncle, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
Turtle was the loving father of Kassidy and Jack Ferrie; dear brother of Mary Ellen Nunan (Frank), Sally Ann Kendrick (Jake), Bernadette Harris (Jim), and Eileen Ferrie; uncle of Anthony Bompadre, Frank Nunan, Megan Palmer, Sarah Palmer, Shane Nunan, Laura Palmer, and Michael Harris. He was also survived by his former spouse, Colleen Palmer Ferrie.
He was a talented carpenter with "hands of gold." He volunteered these carpentry skills to his local community including his kids' elementary school and the Highland Park Firehouse. Turtle was a member of Philadelphia Carpenters Union Local 158 for over 30 years and a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School class of 1980.
He was a lifetime member of the Highland Park Fire Company, past President for many years on the corporate side, and former Captain of the active crew. He was also a mentor to his son who is a current member of the Highland Park Fire Company.
Turtle was a huge Philadelphia sports fan. He loved the Jersey shore, and enjoyed biking and gardening.

Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
