Michael Kavchok

Michael N. Kavchok, age 70, of Swedesboro, NJ, formerly of S.W. Philadelphia, passed away on December 18, 2020.

Son of the late William R. and Anna (nee Hatala) Kavchok. Beloved husband of Marianne T. Kavchok (nee Doohan). Loving father of Lindsay A. Kavchok, Michael C. Kavchok and Nichol (Douglas) Kavchok Moore. Brother of Irene Serpente, Andrea Wyman, the late William (the late Janet) Kavchok and the late Elaine (the late Ted) Tacconelli. Dear grandfather of Alexis Mozzone. Son in law of Anne (the late Peter) Doohan. Brother in law of Caroline Wilkinson, Rosalie Reeve and Shelia Doohan. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

He had an apprenticeship working on the dry docks, which eventually led to a full time position at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard for a total of 25 years. His career then took him to Perrypoint, Maryland working at the VA Hospital as an engineering technician working on facilities, code, government contracts, and special projects for the veterans. He retired after a total of 45 years of government service.

Michael’s favorite hobbies included antiquing, photography, carpentry projects, and tinkering in the garage. He was a jack of all trades and always had his hands in a different project. He was very interested in nature and loved gardening, hiking, skiing, bird watching, and kayaking.

Michael loved riding his bike and working out at the YMCA. He enjoyed watching his son play basketball and going to his live music gigs with his high school band. He was always there cheering him on. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. He was always the one in charge of the Prime Rib at Christmas time.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family, Monday, December 28, 2020 9-9:50 AM at St. Pius X Church 220 Lawrence Rd Broomall, PA followed by his Memorial Mass 10 AM. Interment will be held privately with family members.
