Michael "Mike" McMenamin, 50, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Mike was born the oldest of two children to Michael and Karen McMenamin in Drexel Hill, PA on November 16, 1972. Mike was proud of where he came from and made the best lifelong friends. He worked as a plumber for Springfield School District for 22 years. His work friends kept him laughing and he would come home telling his family all of their funny stories. His work ethic was impressive and you could rely on Mike for anything, day or night. He would always drop everything for anyone in need.
He met his wife, Katie in 1999 in the Pocono Mountains. They married on September 27, 2002 surrounded by friends and family. Mike was an amazing husband who treated Katie like a queen. In 2004 Mike and Katie had their first child, Kayla. One year later, in 2005 they welcomed their second and third children, Ryan and Josh into the world. In 2009 Julia arrived and their family was complete. Mike worked so hard to make sure his family was taken care of and felt so very loved every day.
Mike wore many titles: husband, dad, uncle, brother, son, friend, coach, Menny, Plumb. His proudest title of all was dad. He obsessed over his children and their happiness and his smile said it all. Mike coached softball, baseball, and basketball for his children. He was always willing to step in to lend a helping hand at any event whether it was working the clock, keeping the books, or cleaning up after a game, everyone knew they could rely on Mike.
Mike enjoyed nothing more than watching his children grow. He cherished every minute of their lives and didn't miss a thing. He was so proud of the family he created. Whether he was helping them with Math, cooking for them, talking about every play of the Phillies game with Josh, bringing Kayla her favorite coffee from Dunkin, taking Julia to Giant four nights a week to buy whatever she wanted, or cheering them on at their games. Mike was present and they knew how proud he was and how much he loved them. He had the biggest heart, the biggest smile, and the biggest hugs. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan. He is survived by his wife, Katie Knapp McMenamin, his children, Kayla McMenamin, Josh McMenamin, and Julia McMenamin, and his dog, Lilo. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Kathleen and John Knapp, his brothers-in-law, Sean Knapp and Brian Knapp (Lauren), his parents, Michael and Karen McMenamin, his sister, Tara McMenamin, his many loving nieces and nephews, also adored by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his amazing Greenhill family.
