Michael Nicolas

January 13, 1998 — October 13, 2015

Michael Anthony J. Nicolas, age 17, of Exton, PA, left us suddenly and unexpectedly the morning of October 13, 2015. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Michael was born in Newark, DE, but spent the majority of his life in Exton, PA. He was the son of Edgar C. and Marilyn J. Nicolas (nee Justiniano).

Michael was a senior at Devon Preparatory School and was a graduate of Ss. Philip and James in Exton, PA. At Devon, he was active in choir and theater and served as co-captain of Devon Prep's cross country team in the 2015-16 school year. Michael was incredibly talented at the piano and was learning to play guitar. A natural athlete, he was an enthusiastic competitor at ping pong, tennis, volleyball, and bowling. He could bake cakes, breads, and pudding as well as he could whip up a mean southwestern omelet. He was passionately interested in philosophy and intensely curious about other people. He had plans to go to college to study to become a physical therapist because all he wanted was to help people. Michael committed himself each day to "choosing to be a good person" and did whatever he could to make others feel good about themselves, and he always did so with the biggest smile on his face. He was an exceptionally kind, talented, loving, and selfless person who gave much and asked for nothing in return. He will be always in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his older siblings Christopher and Kathryn, his maternal grandmother Lourdes Justiniano, his aunts Nora Tan, Ming Pai and his uncle Norman Nicolas, and cousins Stephanie, Theresa, Rebecca, Katherine, Josephee, Mikaela, and Chitao. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen, his maternal grandfather Dr. Guillermo S.D. Justiniano and his paternal grandparents Macario L. and Bella C. Nicolas.

Friends and family are invited to remember Michael and celebrate his life during visitation hours on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home at 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA as well as on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9:30-10:50 AM at Ss. Philip & James Church, located at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Ship Road in Exton, PA. All are welcome and invited to Michael's Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Ss. Philip & James Church in Exton. Interment private.

In remembrance of Michael, donations may be made to the Devon Preparatory School (www.devonprep.com/support) or NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org/donate).
