After a valiant battle with cancer, Michael Nicholas Scogna was surrounded by his family as he passed away on March 13, 2024. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Soon Hee Cho, and his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Katie-Lynn Scogna.
Michael was born on August 11, 1959 to Jules Scogna, who predeceased him, and Dora Duerr Scogna. He grew up in a large, loving family as the the fourth of eight children, and was the source of much laughter in the home. Michael graduated from Upper Darby High School and subsequently attended Cabrini College where he studied political science.
Michael married Soon Hee Cho on May 21, 2012, and they lived in Ventnor, NJ in a house rebuilt and refurbished by Michael for the most part of their marriage.
Michael was employed as a builder and finish carpenter and then as a casino worker in Atlantic City, NJ. He was a lover of the outdoors especially all things ocean and beach, and he was an avid fisherman.
Michael is survived by his wife and son and daughter-in-law, his mother, his sisters Dora (Scott) Mead, Diana Scogna, and Judith (Neil) McGettigan, his brothers, Jules (Kim) Scogna, Jack (JoAnn) Scogna, Nicholas (Camille) Scogna, Edward (Bridget) Scogna, and honorary brother, Pete Carr, sixteen nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his big personality, his quick sense of humor, and his movie star good looks.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM on Monday, August 12, 2024 at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Interment at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
