Mildred Baumert

March 20, 1929 — December 10, 2019

Mildred “Millie” Baumert of Newtown Square, PA, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019.

Millie was born at Temple Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to the late Pasquale and Marie.  She attended Catholic grade school and Holy Child Academy High School.

Millie was a member of the Junior Navy League Service during WW II and sold war bonds.  As a young woman, she was a member of the Frank Sinatra Fan Club.

In her adult years, Millie was a volunteer at the library, at Riddle Memorial Hospital and at Tyler Arboretum.  She was also very involved with the Girl Scouts and served on the Advisory Board of the Penn State Extension.  During the Korean War, she organized a community drive to correspond with hundreds of American soldiers. Millie worked throughout much of her adult life, including long-term employment at Bell Telephone, the Media Clinic as well as The Franklin Mint.

Millie was a theater and opera enthusiast and enjoyed attending cultural events.  She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, crocheting and knitting.  She liked keeping up with current events, reading the newspaper and clipping articles of interest and sending them to her family members.  She also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and old movies and TV shows.  Millie also was avid learner and took continuing education classes and Medical Assistant training.

Millie was a devout Catholic and was blessed to see Pope Pius XII in Rome in 1950 and Pope Paul II in 1979 when he visited Philadelphia.  Her family and friends are what she treasured most in her life.  Millie will be most remembered for being a loving, generous, intelligent, funny and creative individual.

Millie was the beloved wife of the late Carl A. Baumert, Jr.; loving mother of Frederick C. Baumert, Andrea B. Mina (Joseph) and the late Beth A. Baumert; cherished grandmother of Christine and Abigail Mina; dear sister of Marie and the late Patrick (Patricia).  Predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 9:30 – 10:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, 610-353-6300, followed by her Funeral Service 10:30 AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
