Nichols James Asa Nichols Jr. 80, of Essington PA, died peacefully at Fair Acres on August 24, 2012 after a long battle with advanced dementia. James was a decorated Korean War Veteran, and worked as a pipefitter for Local 690 until his retirement. He was a singer and musician, known locally for his country and western band the Keystone Playboys in years past. He was also very active in Alcoholics Anonymous for many years helping many men maintain their sobriety and restore their lives. James was the beloved son of the late James Sr. and Virginia (nee Noblin) of South Boston, Virginia. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (nee Davis) of 57 years, loving daughter, Deborah Hoet of Point of Rocks, MD. and his sister Gladys Heath of Bel Air, MD. Family and friends are invited to James Life Celebration Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the James F. Knoetgen Funeral Home of Morton 746 Kedron Ave (RT420). The internment will be held privately.
