Mr. John Lindblad

March 27, 1939 — July 5, 2016

John A. Lindblad, 77, of West Chester, formerly of Waldwick, NJ passed away on July 5, 2016. He was born in Bergenfield NJ, to the late John M. and Anna Lindblad.



He was the loving father of Patricia (Shawn) Campbell and John (Lynne) Lindblad, grandfather to Jamie Campbell, Brian Campbell, Morgan Lindblad, Jay Lindblad, and Julia Lindblad.John was predeceased by his sister Mae Lake and his faithful Golden Retriever Princess.



He was a 55+ year member of IBEW Local 164, and spent the last 10 years of his career running the light and sound boards at The Meadowlands - Racetrack, Giants Stadium and Arena. He especially enjoyed offering his advice and opinions to the management of his beloved NJ Devils,,,



John was a member of the Waldwick Pistol and Rifle Club. He was an active member and with best friend Drew Churchson, he taught many current members about safety when they were in their Junior program. He was a hunter and target shooter. He spent many years travelling with friend's to Elmer's Melody Inn near Rutland Vt. to hunt woodchuck and deer, and play cards. In more recent years, he discovered a love of trap shooting, and would regularly take his throwing machine to the State Range (Cherry Ridge) with his buddy Ed Haberlack to shoot clay birds. Even on days he wasn't up for shooting himself, he'd drive up to hang out with Healy and the guys.



He loved Waldwick and was involved in many organizations there over the years. In addition to the Pistol range, he was a member of the Lions Club, coached youth soccer, and served on the parent's committee of AFS (exchange student club affiliated with the high school.) He lived on Manhattan Avenue, in a tight knit community of neighbors.



He was also a member of the Rockland County Radio Control (RCRC) Club. He enjoyed building and flying radio control airplanes. He edited their newsletter for several years. He always loved flying, and one birthday his close friend Joni Wilters gave him the gift of a flying lesson. He used to say he felt free when sitting behind the controls of an airplane.



He was always taking photos, and he passed his love of photography on to his grandson Jamie and his granddaughter Morgan.
