Maffei Joseph N. Maffei, Jr. age 54, died peacefully April 21, 2011, at Taylor Hospice, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. Beloved husband of Denise Maffei (nee Zmijewski) of Essington, PA. Loving father of Thomas J. , Jacqueline L., and Allison M. Maffei, all of Essington,PA, and Allison's fiance' Tyler MacCrone. Dear son of Joan and Joseph Maffei, Sr. of Essington, PA. Also survived by his aunt Benay Forte of Quakertown, PA. Joe worked as a machinist at Southco for over 30 years and later as a logistics associate at W.L. Gore in Elkton, MD. He was a lifetime member of Essington Fire Company (now Tinicum Township Fire Company). He was an avid hunter, who especially enjoyed his time duck hunting with his golden retriever Olivia, and his cousin Michael Pellegrino. Joe was also a hardcore offshore fisherman who loved his trips aboard the "Jezebel" with his best friend Captain Chester Sadowski. Joe particularly looked forward to fishing in offshore tournaments aboard the Jezebel, and the crew was locally famous for their many successful fishing trips. Unfortunately, the talent of a successful fisherman has been silenced but the fish in the Atlantic Ocean have one less thing to fear. Joe‘s favorite place to spend time with his family and friends was in Ocean City, MD; and he will be truly missed by his fishing buddies and all whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 11 AM to 2 PM in James F. Knoetgen of Morton, PA, 746 Kedron Ave ( Route 420 ), Morton, PA 19070.
