Lawrence "Larry" Frattura , 87 of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. Born in Fallo, Italy he moved to the US with his family at age 2. Initially living in Boston, MA and later settling permanently in Philadelphia, Larry attended the historic Murrell Dobbins Technical School in Philadelphia. A veteran of the US Army, he honorably served as a Private 1st Class military police officer where he once drew guard detail for President Eisenhower on one of his trips to the area. After his discharge from the Army he held positions at the Upper Darby Police Department, the US Postal Service and finally at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where he helped repair the infamous Battleship New Jersey. Larry was a member of the Laurentians Seniors group in Upper Darby and served several terms as their President. Larry was an avid sports fan and loved the Phillies and Eagles but his true passion was bowling. His proudest moment was the night he rolled a 299 at age 73.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Domenica (DiSciullo) Frattura along with two brothers John and Patrick Frattura. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Adeline "Dolly" (DiVincenzo) Frattura, his son Larry, daughter-in-law Barbara (McAnally) and grandchildren Colin, Kerry and Lauren as well as his brother Jerald and sister Mary (Frattura) Iuliano.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Drexel Hill on Wednesday, August 31 at 11:00am. A viewing for family and friends will precede the mass and will also be at St Andrews Church starting at 9:30am and ending promptly at 10:45am. Burial will be at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in Broomall.
