Mr. Leonard Ostanek

September 9, 1923 — July 19, 2013

Leonard F. Ostanek, 89, resident of Peckville, PA for over 50 years and recently of West Chester, passed away on July 19, 2013.

Born in Forest City, PA in 1923, Leonard was the son of the late Louis and Mary Zaverl Ostanek of Browndale, PA. He was a 1941 graduate of Forest City High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1943. He served as Staff Sergeant in the 1st MAW as an Aviation Machinist and Propeller Specialist. He served in Los Negros-Admiralties, the Philippines and China before being honorable discharged in May 1946.

He retired from Schlumberger (formerly Daystrom Instruments and Weston Components) in Eynon, PA where he worked for 34 years.

He was a former member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Peckville, PA and a current member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in west Chester, PA. He was also a member of VFW-Shopa Davy Post, Peckville, PA.

He was a gentle soul who loved his wife and family and was a life-time Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Leonard was the beloved husband of Anna (Skalski) Ostanek, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage; loving father of Dorothy Ann Rockey of Erie, PA, Karen Musselman of West Chester, PA, and Leonard J. Ostanek of West Chester, PA; loving grandfather of Sean Rockey of Raleigh, NC, Leigh Ann Rockey of Erie, PA, Jason Ostanek of Philadelphia, PA, Laura Ostanek Edwards of NYC, NY, ad Tyler and Sara Musselman of West Chester, PA.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his siblings, William, Henry, Frank, Matthew, Albert, Helen and Dorothy. May they all be there to welcome Leonard home.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Maximillian Kolbe, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
