Elaine E. Blair (nee Emerson), age 89, of Media, PA, formerly of Havertown and West Chester, PA, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2016.
Born in Providence, RI on January 5, 1927, she was the oldest of two children born to the late Thomas and Helen Emerson (nee Pilecki).
Elaine was a 1944 graduate of Norristown High School and Pierce Business School. She joined the Athletic Department of the University of Pennsylvania after graduating from Pierce and moved on to Secretary to Bert Bell, Commissioner of the NFL.
Elaine left the workforce to raise her two children and was active in Home and School, served as a Teacher's Aid, Girl Scout leader and representative to the School Board. She loved politics and served as Judge of Elections for many years. As a resident of Hershey's Mill, she chaired the landscape committee and served as an officer on the Village Council.
Her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was precious to her. Elaine loved sports especially football and college basketball. She was a huge fan of Duke Basketball.
She was the loving mother of Deborah Mischo (John) and Richard Blair (Melaine); devoted grandmother of Elise Parisi (Joseph) and Matthew Blair (fiancé Genevieve). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Pasquale "PJ" Joseph and Lucia Rose Parisi, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" Blair in 2015 and a brother Herbert "Bud" Emerson in 1985.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10 to 10:50 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Arrangements by the Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, (610) 353-6300. Interment following Mass at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
