Mrs. Elizabethann Conroy
February 15, 1947 — October 28, 2015
Elizabethann Conroy (née Thanel), age 68, of Lansdale, PA, formerly of NE Philadelphia, PA, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on October 28, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Alice Thanel (née Jones).
Elizabethann was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Conroy and the loving mother of Robert W. Conroy (Donna), Jennifer S. Conroy-Schwartz (William) and Catherine Conroy de Paulo (Craig). She is also survived by her brother, William J. Thanel (Carolyn), her grandchildren: Kaitlin Marie Flynn (née Conroy), Emily Lynn Conroy, Mary Elizabeth Conroy, Christian Michael Augustine de Paulo, and her great-granddaughter, Lily Matilda Flynn.
Elizabethann was a graduate of St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in Northeast Philadelphia. She continued her education, taking courses at Temple University before marrying her husband in 1970. Elizabethann was an avid reader, instilling a love of learning and of stories and books in her children. She was a lifelong volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, and was recognized by the organization as an exemplary Scout leader. For nearly four decades, Elizabethann was involved in troop activities either as an assistant leader or as a troop leader. After her children were grown, Elizabethann worked for the organization in their council offices, continuing her dedication to promoting the values of scouting. Later, she also worked for other non-profit organizations which, in part, advocated for the elderly and infirmed. Elizabethann had a keen intelligence and a will of iron, which helped sustain her throughout the latter part of her life when she battled Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Relatives, friends and members of the Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia are invited to her viewing Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:00-10:50 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA and to Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. The interment will take place at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814 would be appreciated.
