Smith Ethel May Horn Smith, 86, passed away on February 2, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Brandywine Hall Nursing Home in West Chester, PA. Ethel was the wife of the late Charles (Chick) H. Smith, Sr. Her son, the late Charles (Chuck) Smith Jr. and her brother Raymond and sisters Claire and Marie predeceased her. Ethel's love of animals and children brought joy to her throughout her life. She shared the sport of competitive archery with her husband and great friends, winning many trophies. She also found much pleasure in crafts and creating costume jewelry. Ethel and family had many happy days boating and crabbing along the Delaware River and the Chesapeake Bay in the pleasure boat built by Chick. She loved music and dancing and attended many concerts with her daughters and grandchildren. She took much pride in her gardens where she spent much time. Ethel is survived by her daughters Susan Batten (and the late Allen) of West Chester, Carole Green (Eric) of England and Gail Taylor (Robert) of Turnersville, NJ.; grandchildren Michael Batten (Regan), Shannon Oakley (Michael), Cara Smith, Michelle Smith, Michael Smith, Jeffery Anderson, Justin Taylor, Katherine Hill (Daniel) and Susan Getty (Michael) and by great grandchildren Dylan, Vincent, Regan, Natalie, Theo and Sean and by sisters Muriel Bishop and Mary Jane Barbour. Relatives and friends are invited to Ethel's Life Celebration Sunday 7-9PM and Monday February 10, 2014, 10:30-12pm at James F. Knoetgen of Morton, 746 Kedron Ave, (Rt. 420) followed by her Funeral Service at 12PM. Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills, PA.
