Mrs. Mary Nelson

May 28, 1919 — August 5, 2017

Mary T. Nelson (nee McCullough), age 98, of Upper Darby, PA passed away on August 5, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (nee Convery) McCullough.



Mary graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1938. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and was an avid reader and traveler. Mary also spent her free time volunteering with Red Cross and helping out at the Upper Darby Senior Center (Watkins House). She had a special devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.



Mary was the beloved wife of the late John P. Nelson; loving mother of Patricia Ann Taylor (Edward), Mary Ann Brawley (The Late James), Barbara Ann Maristch (The Late Michael), JoAnne Ricciardi (The Late John), and John Nelson (Lorraine); and devoted sister of Anna O'Donnel. She was also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Frank, James, and John.



Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA, 610-449-0300, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
