Mrs. Philomena Shar

Shar Philomena Helen (Iacono) Sgro Shar, 86 of Glen Mills, passed peacefully after a long illness at Brinton Manor Nursing home on March 5. She was born on January 16, 1927 in Chester, PA to Francesco "Frank" and Angelina (Scotti) Iacono. She attended Chester High School , graduating in the class of '45. She was an office clerk at Crozer Medical Center, and held various jobs throughout the years, as a factory worker at Sunroc in Lenni, as a nurse's aide at Fair Acres and home care agencies in Delaware Country and New Castle County, DE. In her later years she worked as a security guard and retired from J.R. Gettier Security Co. in 2001. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Frank and Angelina Iacono, her brothers and sisters: Mary, Alfred "Freddy", Ormondo "Shanghai", Olga, and Louise, husband's Rocco R. Sgro Jr. and Philip J. Shar, and her son Rocco JosephSgro. Philomena , in her earlier years , liked to visit family in Wildwood, New Jersey in the summer. She loved to play Bingo and enjoy the senior activities, including Bible Study at Parkview Apartments in Boothwyn and at Brinton Manor Nursing Home. She liked to find the best sales and would go the extra mile to get a good deal. She liked to stop by and visit friends and family. She was a compassionate and merciful person and always wanted to help those who were less fortunate. Philomena loved her friends and family, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors: Her children Donna (Bob), Carman Sgro, Anna (Tim), Diane (Glynn). Grandchildren: Kristoffer, Laurie(Derek), Lindsay (Phil), Alison (Kevin), Brent, Angela (Jon) and Rick. Great-Grandchildren - Trinity, Sophia, and Evin, and Isabelle, and many his nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration on Saturday, March 9,2013 from 1 to 2 PM in James F. Knoetgen of Morton, PA, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA 19070, with her funeral service to follow at 2PM.
