Thomas J. Vischer, Jr., age 83, a 31 year resident of Devon, PA, formerly of the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, passed away on March 25, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Vischer, M.D. and Katharine Vischer (nee Smith).
He was a graduate of Germantown Academy, Franklin & Marshall College and Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Navy and served on the USS Robert K. Huntingdon destroyer in the Atlantic Fleet. On board ship, he was a Gunnery Officer and an Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer.
He was employed by Fidelity Bank in the Trust Department and later joined Continental Bank as Senior Vice President in the Trust Division. He retired in 1994.
Thomas was a member of Aronimink Golf Club, Overbrook Golf Club and a former member of the Union League. He was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church. His greatest joy came from family, singing, playing the piano, and fishing with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Susan Vischer (nee Skelton), his children Gary (Barbara) Vischer, Deborah Vischer and Gay Lynn Moore, his stepchildren Wendy (Robert) Donaldson and Sally Lamb and his grandchildren Jackson and Sydney Donaldson, Sean, Kyle and Timothy Lamb, Joshua Vischer and Danielle and Christopher LaBorda. He was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Hendrickson in 2014.
Memorial Service 3:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2015 at St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 Valley Forge Road Wayne, PA 19087. Interment is private.
