Mr. William Root

Root William W. Root, age 88, of Glen Mills Senior Living and formerly of Swarthmore, PA, passed away April 23,2013. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Gleason) Root. Loving father of Dennis T. Root and the late William T., John, and Daniel P. Root. Cherished grandfather of Timothy and Daniel Root, and Emily Bailey, and great-grandfather of Madelyn. Dear brother of Frank and Albert Albertson, and the late James Albertson. Mr. Root was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII , in both the Battle of the Mediterranean and the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Bell Telephone, primarily as a technician. He loved to dance and have a good time. He enjoyed his time in North Wildwood and his visits to the Elks Club there. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made over the years. Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration on Wednesday evening , May 1, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday morning May 2, 2013 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the James F. Knoetgen Funeral Home at 746 Kedron Ave., Morton, PA 19070, 1-800-GIVNISH. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 AM in Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 950 Michigan Ave., Swarthmore, PA 19081, followed by interment at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
