Muriel Stuart

July 12, 1923 — February 13, 2015

Muriel Miller Stuart, 91, of Riddle Village, Media, PA, formerly of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away on Friday morning, February 13, 2015. She was the widow of John William "Bill" Stuart, her husband of 60 years. She is survived by two sons, William (Barbara) of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Douglas (Catherine) of Havertown, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.



Born in Milltown, New Jersey, on July 12, 1923, Muriel was the daughter of Anthony J. Miller and Wilhelmina Auer Miller. After graduating from New Brunswick High School, Muriel worked in retail banking in several bank branches in the New Brunswick area. She also worked as a secretary for several non-profit organizations. Her longest position as a secretary was for the New Jersey Federation of Shade Tree Commissions, whose office was on the Cook College campus of Rutgers University.



Muriel shared her husband Bill's love of nature and the outdoors. As a young woman, Muriel participated in the Wa-Xo-Be Archery Club in Milltown, NJ, of which Bill Stuart was a co-founder. Later, Muriel was active in the Parent-Teacher Associations of the North Brunswick schools attended by her two sons. She was a life-long Roman Catholic, first with her family in Our Lady of Lourdes in Milltown, NJ, then for nearly 40 years as a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace in North Brunswick, NJ.



A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 1740 U.S. Rte. 130 (Georges Road), North Brunswick, NJ 08902. The family will receive friends at the Church starting at 10:30 AM.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Muriel's memory be made to Philabundance or the Friends of Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.
