Nan M. Mayer (nee McLelland), age 94, of Philadelphia, passed away on July 28, 2017.
Born in Ardrishaig, a lochside village in the west of Scotland, Nan was the daughter of the late William McLelland and Ellen McLelland (nee MacAllister).
After graduating from Simon Gratz High School and starting a family, Nan was a purchaser for Allen-Sherman-Hoff in Exton, PA for over twenty-five years. She enjoyed her retirement years spending time with her family and taking trips to Ocean City, NJ, and was an avid reader. She was a former member of The Drexel Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving children Jean Wood (the late Ivor), Christine E. Mayer (Cheri Frank), and Lynda L. Strong (Howard C.). She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Mafodda, Heather Roberts, Beth O'Neill, Ivor Wood and Jeanne McKelvey, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Monday, August 7, 2017 1:00-3:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA (610) 353-6300 and to her Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Embracing Life at Simpson House, 2101 Belmont Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19131.
