Nancy Cancelmo

Nancy M. Cancelmo (nee Dalton), age 94, a longtime resident of Wayne, PA passed away on September 22nd, 2019. Born in Sharon Hill, PA to the late William and Jane (nee Sheerin) Dalton. Beloved wife for 48 years to the late Dr. John B. Cancelmo. Devoted mother of Karen McFadden, Nancy Burke (Pat), Jay Cancelmo, Mia Cancelmo, Matt Cancelmo (Betsy), and the late Michael Cancelmo. Loving grandmother of Ryan McFadden, Kelley McFadden, Kevin Burke, and Amanda Buckle, and adoring great- grandmother to Riley Burke and Winifred McFadden. Dear sister to Jane Hughes (Gene), and is proceeded in death by her three brothers, Bill, Herb, and John, and sister Sally Dalton.

A graduate of Academy Park High School, Nancy earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rosemont College in 1946. After graduation, Nancy worked as a buyer for Lit Brothers in Philadelphia. Nancy and her husband married in 1949, and together they raised their six children in Ardmore, Devon, and Radnor, PA.

Nancy and her family enjoyed time spent in Boca Raton, FL, boating on the Chesapeake, and summers in Avalon. Later in life, Nancy and her husband traveled to Africa for one of their most memorable trips. Above all, she was dedicated to her family and loved hosting Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren.

Nancy was very active in the Huntington’s disease community, and earned the ‘Women of Distinction’ award for her charitable service in 2005. She spent many years volunteering at The Trading Post which helped support the Fox Chase Cancer Center. She enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. Nancy was a devout Catholic and she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Katharine of Siena Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation at 9:30-10:25 A.M. Friday, September 27, 2019 at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Ave., Wayne, PA 19087, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
