Nancy Wilson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy. Born in Mountcharles, Co. Donegal, Ireland to Charles and Mary (née McInaw) Harkins, Nancy's life was full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.
She was one of the last great characters, with a sense of humor and wit that made a lasting impression. Working at the Merion Cricket Club for more than 50 years she served generations of families as a constant and cheerful bearer of the club’s reputation for excellent service. It was never work for her and she loved the members and her co-workers.
She was a loyal and proud member of the Donegal Society of Philadelphia (Tír Conaill Abú!), where she was the unofficial photographer since coming to the United States in the 1950s. She loved to garden and was a devoted member of St. Philomena Church in Lansdowne, and later St. Anastasia Church in Newtown Square, PA.
Nancy found joy in simple pleasures such as chatting to everyone she met, dancing, and celebrating life with her friends and family. She loved being among people, having a laugh, and helping where she could.
Nancy is survived by her loving son, Rory Wilson (Kyran Ryan Wilson), grandson, Fionn Wilson, sister, Ellen Griffiths in Co. Donegal Ireland, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Harkins, mother, Mary McInaw Harkins, husband, Ed Wilson, sisters, Kathleen Campbell and Marie McElwee, brothers, Liam, Tony, Sean, and Nahor Harkins.
Services to honor and celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Saturday April 13, 2024. A Visitation will take place 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the love she shared and the lives she touched along her way.
