Nicholas J. “Nick” Bailey, age 88, of Media, PA, passed away on December 12, 2024. Born in Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine Bailey (nee Kearney).
Nick was a distinguished Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. In his early career, he laid the groundwork for his illustrious career by working with the U.S. Forest Service at Tahoe National Forest in California. When Nick returned to Pennsylvania he traveled on the historic Route 66 and told great stories of his adventures. For over 40 years, he worked as a Structural Engineer in engineering design at Raytheon (Catalytic). Near retirement he supported projects at Fluor Daniel and CDI.
Nick was a devoted and faithful parishioner at St. Pius X Church. His unwavering faith guided his life and inspired those around him. He was a longtime resident of Springfield (Delco) with his family, thriving there for over 55 years. He greatly enjoyed the strong friendships he had with his warmhearted neighbors. He was often seen riding his bike to Wawa for a newspaper and a coffee, immersing himself in a good book, or escaping to the serene shores of Stone Harbor, NJ. The memories crafted during vacations to visit family in Ireland and cruises to Bermuda with his beloved wife of 46 years, Pat, were held dear.
Family was the cornerstone of Nick’s existence. He delighted in spending time with each member, but it was his granddaughter who captured his heart most profoundly. In her laughter, he found boundless joy, and their moments shared were treasures that will forever echo through the lives they touched. Nick enjoyed following sports, but he most fervently enjoyed following the excitement of Notre Dame football games.
Nick was the beloved husband of the late Patricia P. Bailey (nee Pasko); loving father of Patricia Kocher (Scott) and Monica E. Bailey; adoring grandfather of Abigail Kocher; caring brother of Bernadette O’Regan (Pat) and Catherine Tuohy (the late Hubert). Predeceased by his sisters, Noreen Bailey and Angela Bailey.
