Nicholas Christie, age 77, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly at home on September 28th, 2022. Father to Nicholas and husband to his recently departed wife, Helene (Roebuck).
Nick was born on February 10, 1945 to the late Peter and Glesia Christie of Drexel Hill. Nick is survived by his son, Nicholas, his brother, Ronald, his deceased brother Basil’s son, Gregory, as well as several cousins from the Christie, Zarabara and Menan Families.
Nick was the first member of his family to graduate from college - Philadelphia College of Arts & Textiles – where he majored in Food Services and Hospitality Management. Upon graduation he began working for Marriott and with much hard work became a successful restaurant entrepreneur. His partner and he successfully owned and operated multiple Burger King and Sbarros fast food franchises for decades.
Nick was active throughout the St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church community in Broomall, Pa.. He enjoyed and looked forward to helping at their Greek Affair, celebrating the Greek culture and food. He was also a member of the WEGO Rotary club for many years.
His most cherished times were spent sharing food and memories with his beloved wife, son and his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Affectionately known as “Big Nick”, he was truly a gregarious personality and animated storyteller. When he arrived, you knew it. He would often share his passion for fast cars, books on finance and business dealings and politics with anyone who would listen. He appreciated great musicians and had a true love of classic rock n’ roll music.
His heart broke when he lost his cherished wife Helene. May he rest in peace in her company. We will miss him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday, October 6, 2022 at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Road, Broomall, PA 19008 followed by his Funeral Service 11:00 AM. Interment Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
