Nicholas M. Sr., age 92, of Havertown, PA, on April 26, 2020. Beloved husband of Filomena Tinari (nee Beltrame). Loving father of Nicholas Tinari, Jr. (Susannah Hunter) and Elaine Benedetti. Brother of Joseph Tinari and the late Josephine Magitti and son of the late Aquilino and Lucy (Maimone) Tinari. Also survived by his five grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews.
Nick was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Philadelphia. He served in Germany during the Korean War as a member of Company A, the 103rd Engineer Combat Battalion of the Army National Guard. He was a Master Electrician by trade and a “Mr. Fixit” by nature. He loved setting up his model trainset, tinkering in his garage, making useful or fun gadgets and lending a hand at his children’s houses. He was a talented photographer and enjoyed “chasing sunsets” or capturing that perfect moment when the sun illuminated a good snowfall before it melted off the trees. He was an avid Perry Como fan, and spent hours listening to “beautiful music,” sometimes while waving his conductor baton to the beat. He loved dogs, and they loved him back, relishing the way he cupped his big hand perfectly around their head. And he enjoyed Looney Tunes or a good Christmas special as much as any kid.
He was a man of few words and many sentiments, the strongest of which was his unending love for his family — most of all his grandchildren, who gave him immeasurable joy in his senior years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services and interment are private due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Contributions in Nicholas’ memory to WHO Covid-19 Response Fund, www.covidresponsefund.org would be appreciated.
