Nicholas S. Trobovic, age 59, of Berwyn, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ.
Nick was born in Philadelphia, and grew up in Kensington and Upper Darby. He attended Saint Laurence Grammar School and Monsignor Bonner High School where he graduated with the Class of 1976.
He worked at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard as an Outside Machinist. While at the Ship Yard he completed an Electronics Technician apprenticeship and went on to excel in Weapons Systems Optical Alignment as a part of The Electronics/Weapons Department. Afterwards, he worked as a Technical Writer at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, NJ.
He had a passion for music and spent many years taping the Grateful Dead. He founded Trobovic Pound Puppy Rescue, a non-profit he ran with his wife and children, which rescued hundreds of dogs and puppies from kill-shelters and adopted them into loving homes. He had a special interest in rescuing American Bulldogs and other Bully Breeds. He was also a member of the American Contract Bridge League where he achieved the status of Life Master.
He is survived by his parents, Stephen R. and Margaret E. Trobovic (née Coyle) of Wayne, PA, his wife of 27 years, Kathleen A. Trobovic (née LoSasso), his daughter, Anna K. Trobovic (Kevin), and his son Nicholas S. Trobovic. He is also survived by his brother Stephen R. Trobovic (Robin), and his sisters: Beth Wilcox (Graydon), and Ellen M. Trobovic.
Relatives and friends are invited to remember Nick and celebrate his life. His Visitation is on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 9:45 AM to be followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 . Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, 4650 Ramona Ave Philadelphia, PA 19124.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware County SPCA or Monmouth County SPCA.
