Nora Theresa Byrne (née Dinneen), age 88, of Springfield, PA, formerly of Upper Darby, PA, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2022. Nora was born in 1933 to John Patrick and Mary Dinneen (née Byrne) in Philadelphia, PA. Nora attended Saint Laurence School and Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA. She worked at St. David’s Inn in Radnor, PA. Nora was a parishioner of Saint Laurence Church for over sixty years and attended daily mass for most of her life. She was a member of the Laurentians and enjoyed the rich friendships she made during her years with the group.
Nora was the loving matriarch of a large family. She enjoyed a lifetime of summers with her family at the Jersey Shore, and she loved hosting the family’s annual Christmas parties in her Upper Darby and Springfield homes. Nora loved gardening, reading romantic novels, going to the movies with her many friends, and she rarely missed an episode of General Hospital. Nora had a quiet strength that bonded her family together, and she will be missed for her warmth, kindness, compassion, humor, and her famous Thanksgiving stuffing.
Nora was predeceased by her beloved husband John J. Byrne, her older brother John P. Dinneen, her sister-in-law Peggy Welch, and her brothers-in-law Len Welch Sr. and Pete Byrne. She is survived by her five loving children, Noreen Fabrizio (Ralph), Terri DiGregorio (John), John Byrne (Anne), Michael Byrne (the late Jennifer), and Kevin Byrne (Jenifer), thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Betty Ann Dinneen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Saturday, January 22, 2022 9:30-10:45 AM at Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nora's memory may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
