Nora Monica Swider, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024. She is survived by her sister Mary T. Mahony (nee Gilmore) and many nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her husband Chester, son Kevin and siblings Thomas Gilmore, John Gilmore, Kathleen Gormley (nee Gilmore) and Bernard Gilmore.

Born in County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late John Gilmore and Margaret Gilmore. Nora moved to the United States of America in 1955 where she built a life in the Philadelphia area surrounded by lots of family and friends. Over the years she made numerous trips back to Ireland visiting her parents, siblings and their children.

Nora married Chet in 1979 and they were blessed with the arrival of their son Kevin in 1980. They lived for many years in East Stroudsburg, Pa. where Nora, Chet and Kevin grew as a family and enjoyed many visits from their friends and family to their Pocono mountains home.

Nora was a brilliant knitter and a very avid reader. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all that knew her.

Services to honor and celebrate Nora’s life will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3422 Dennison Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA on Friday, October 11, 2024. A Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
