Patricia A. Butterfield

Patricia A. “Pat/Patsy/Aunt Pat” (Seng) Butterfield peacefully passed away May 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene and Hannah Seng, the youngest of seven, and predeceased by her siblings.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Susan Fricker and her son-in-law Mark Fricker.  She is predeceased by her daughter, Maureen McGowan (Mark).  She is also survived by her three beautiful grandchildren, Joseph Liam Fricker, Kayleigh Rose and Michael Jack McGowan.

Patsy held many jobs over the course of her lifetime.  City Service with her dear friends was her favorite, but she found her final career as a dedicated medical transcriptionist for over 20 years. She had a green thumb and took pride in her yearly garden.  She had an affection for animals that gave three dogs and Maureen’s cat Meeko much love and long lives over the years. 

Pat raised two girls on her own in a time when this was not common or easy.  She always set an example of love, discipline, religion, and South West Philly wisdom, not to mention sacrificing everything to provide for us girls. 

Her favorite dedication and love though, was for her grandchildren.  B-Mom/G-Mom/Jammom/Grandmom’s greatest joy was spending time with her Joey, Kayleigh and Mikey.  She got on her hands and knees to play with them and teach them the games, customs and a prayer or two that she learned growing up and had taught her own children.  She was always energized from having many endless conversations about various topics with Joey on the phone and in person.

If you are reading this than Patsy probably has prayed for you or one of your loved ones.  She kept a list of people that she prayed for every day - and it was not a small list.

Pat was strong and attracted many kind, great, and real people.  That is because Pat herself was a strong, kind, great, and real person.  You will be missed by so many Mom, but we are all better people for having known you.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Friday, June 2, 2023, 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.  Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patricia’s memory would be appreciated to Villa St. Joseph, 1436 Lansdowne Ave, Darby PA 19023 and/or Little Flower Manor, 1201 Springfield Rd, Darby, PA 19023.
