Patricia Conrad

October 29, 1945 — December 23, 2013

Patricia Hoy Conrad of Downingtown, PA, passed away on December 23, 2013 after a year long battle with sarcoma.



Patricia was known throughout the Philadelphia, Southeastern Chester County, PA and Wilmington, DE area and far beyond as one of the finest vocalists and voice teachers of her generation, but she would rather be remembered as the devoted wife of Thomas Conrad, Jr. , adoring mother of daughter Lauren Conrad Giza, and loving family member, friend, and musical colleague.



A graduate of Temple and West Chester Universities with Masters Degrees in Vocal Performance and Opera, Patricia made her debut with The Philadelphia Orchestra as the winner of the Young Artists Competition in (1968). Until recently she enjoyed a wide and varied concert career appearing nationally in recital and with various orchestras and choruses including the Delaware Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Delaware Chamber Society, Sinfonia Da Camera, Main Line Philamusica, Chorale Delaware, the Northern Delaware Oratorio Society, the North Penn Symphony, the Helena Symphony and the Duke Ellington Orchestra (on tour) in the Sacred Concert Series, among others. Patricia was an active soloist and chorister at Christ Church Christiana Hundred where she and her husband Tom were members of the professional choir since (1979).



In addition to her performing schedule, Patricia maintained a private voice studio, and served as President of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Association of Teacher of Singing and member of the Board of Directors of Chorale Delaware.



She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and by all who were graced by the beauty she gave the world through her music and as the kind, loving, giving, and compassionate person that she was.



In addition to her husband Tom, daughter Lauren Conrad Giza (Steven), Patricia is survived by her mother-in-law Elaine Conrad, sister-in-law and her husband Sue and Nick Manari, and a large extended family.



Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Friday, December 27, 2013 6:00-9:00 PM The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA (610 269-3080. Interment is private.



A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Buck Road, Greenville, PA 19807.
