Patricia Quinn

d. April 13, 2013

Patricia Conley Quinn passed away on April 13, 2013 at St. Martha Manor.

Pat was born in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, to John and Margaret Conley. She had two younger brothers, John (Jack) and Tom. She attended Trinity High School in River Forest, Illinois and graduated from Mundelein College, now part of Loyola University in Chicago.

It was there that she met Dominic Quinn, who was back from the war completing his degree. Pat was a drama major and Dominic a Philosophy major. They were appearing in a campus production of "The Man Who Came To Dinner."

Dominic and Pat were married after graduation and settled in Chicago. Soon after, Dominic took a job in radio in Battle Creek, Michigan, where their first child, Marie, was born. Eighteen months later, the family moved to Flint, Michigan, where Kathleen was born.

Soon after, they moved back to Chicago to a radio station in Chicago's Wrigley Building. They settled in Oak Park, IL where their third daughter, Sheila, was born. Dominic and Pat were glad to be back home but then, a new job took the family to Pittsburgh, PA, where Dominic took a position at radio station, KDKA as the Program Director.

In the next ten years, the family moved to Leonia, New Jersey, Boston, Massachusetts and back to New Jersey in Franklin Lakes. Dominic's assignments at WINS in New York, WEEI in Boston, WNEW and WMCA in New York were exciting years. Finally, Philadelphia beckoned with a position at WCAU. This time it seemed meant to be. Philadelphia was home!

Pat took some courses for her Real Estate license and after passing the exam, went to work for Roach Brothers in Malvern. Over the next 28 years, she was a successful Realtor with Roach Brothers, Henderson-Dewey, Hoopes, Inc. and ReMax, on the main line. By the late 70's, her daughter, Marie joined her and they worked as a team. Pat also held management positions while at Roach and Hoopes. Pat was the first "Realtor Emeritus" for ReMax Main Line.

When she wasn't selling real estate and raising her children, she and Dominic loved to entertain and travel. They took many cruises to destinations such as the Caribbean Islands and Alaska as well as the Panama Canal. Other trips took them to the Greek Isles, Italy, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On these trips, they met many interesting people from all over the world, many of whom became dear friends. More than any other past-time, Pat loved to meet and be with all her many friends.

In addition to the human variety, she loved dogs and cats. There were always several cats as well as Bebe, the St. Bernard, followed by Brian, the Irish Setter, Seamus, another Irish Setter, Brandy, a golden retriever and Harpo, her standard Poodle.

Pat was with Roach Brothers a brief time when she sold a house to the new Counsel for American Stores, who had relocated from New York. She invited the couple to dinner at her home. Stan and Edie had three sons and a daughter. Apparently Stan and Pat planned to play matchmaker and it worked! Their daughter Kathleen, and Stan and Edie's son, Sandy, married and several years later, had four daughters of their own. They live in Wilton, Connecticut. Pat and Dom's daughter, Sheila, and her husband, Rob, have twins, a boy and a girl. They reside in Reston, VA. Marie and her husband, Lewis, live in West Chester.

In retirement, Pat loved to see her daughters and grandchildren. She always kept up with the current events reading several newspapers, magazines and watching FOX news on a daily basis.

With the encouragement of her family, Pat decided to live at St. Martha Manor in Downingtown, where she enjoyed the company of many fine people.

Pat is survived by her children; Marie Quinn-Johnson (Lewis), Kathleen Q. Zimmerman (Stanley) and Sheila Quinn Bonham (Robert), 6 grandchildren;Marjorie Zimmerman, Laura Messner (Joel), Sarah Birdsall (Joe), Stephanie Zimmerman, and Katie and Will Bonham. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; Joey Birdsall, Charlie Birdsall and Elliott Messner and 1 step-grandchild, Daniel Johnson. She was predeceased by her husband Dominic Rocca Quinn, and her two brothers, John F. Conley, Jr. and Thomas M. Conley.
