Patricia A White, of Pottstown PA, formerly of Downingtown PA, Flagler Beach FL, and Wysox PA among many other towns and boroughs, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on March 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by Daniel Patrick, her devoted husband of 60 years. She leaves behind her younger sister Bonnie McAllister, her daughters Patricia White, and Debra Varian, and sons Daniel (Jody), John (Kate), Paul and Mark (Patty). She is the dear grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Patricia was born in South Philadelphia on October 12, 1936 to John and Helen Foy.
Some might call her a homemaker, but a more accurate description would be Chief Executive Officer of an impressive family enterprise. When they were going to embark on some new journey, her resourcefulness was legendary. She always found a way to make it happen despite modest resources.
She fiercely loved and provided for her six children with courage and grace through many a triumph and an equal number of calamities. She hosted countless dinners and holiday gatherings for her expansive family that included Dan’s many brothers and sisters but most especially the wild Irish rovers, Charlie, John and Joe White. They are sorely missed by all.
While she was raised in the hustle and bustle of the Philadelphia area, Dan and Pat had a hidden fondness for country life. Seemingly on a whim, they moved the family to an idyllic 50-acre tract of meadows and woodlands cut by a beautiful spring fed brook in far north Bradford County PA. There they learned to raise sheep, pigs, and cows, and reaped a bountiful harvest that kept the family healthy and well fed. Pat was just as comfortable in her overcoat and barn boots as she was in a dress and high heels.
Pat was a woman of many hobbies including gardening, bird watching, reading, sewing and quilting. In the latter part of life, she was very active in the churches where she lived, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and participating in many other committees. When she took up residence with her son Paul after her husband’s passing, she became famous as the “quilt lady” at the annual Saint Joseph’s festival.
As Pat aged and her health began to fail, her first born Patti gladly assumed the role of her final provider, and she heroically and unselfishly cared for her through her final months and days.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Tuesday April 1 beginning at 9:45 followed by an 11 AM Mass at Saint Josephs Church, 338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown PA. The internment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Main Line Health Homecare and Hospice https://www.nhpco.org/providers/main-line-health-home-care-and-hospice/ Alternatively, in honor of her lifelong love of animals, consider donating to or gifting a membership to the https://www.elmwoodparkzoo.org/
