Polly Vose Matherson of Devon, PA passed away at home on May 25, 2015 surrounded by her family. Born August 2, 1935 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Helen Vose Heller Long and William R. Vose Sr. She is survived by her brother William R Vose, who lives in New Hampshire.
She was married to Dr. Daniel Guy Matherson of Syracuse, NY in 1956. They moved back to the Philadelphia suburbs in 1963. He passed away in 1980.
Polly loved family; they were her support. Her greatest joys were her four children, Dan, Kim, Stephen, and Greg; their spouses, Pattie, H.G. Haskell, Jill and Lisa; and her 10 Grandchildren, Sophie, Juliana, Hannah, Nate, Paige, Haley, Brooke, Ian, Olivia and Jaime.
She loved all animals, most especially her corgis. She had a passion for the outdoors, as well as hiking and walking. She loved good food, wine and tequila.
She was a collector of primitive antique and American furniture, and it was this interest in art that led to her Corporate Art Consulting business, Plum Gallery, with Phyllis Carpoletti.
Her friends were very important to her, as well as her colleagues in the Pilates community, of which she was a part of for over 25 years. She retired on 5/15/15 from her Pilates Bodysmith Studio in Devon, as well as from Pilates and More. In addition to a Pilates trainer, she also taught yoga and Chi Gong.
Polly enjoyed her countless friendships. Her lifelong best friends were Nancy and Charlie Kaiser, from Columbus, Ohio. Nancy and Polly were like sisters with their Spa trips, shopping, and travel adventures. Their husbands were also best friends.
A true inspiration to so many, it was Polly's strong will, tenacity and courage along with the support of family and friends that enabled her to face head-on the challenges of her life. She battled Lymphoma and died from complications of Leukemia.
Family will greet relatives and friends Thursday, May 28, 2015 5:00-7:00 PM The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA (610) 989-9600. Interment private. " A celebration of life" will follow in the near future as per Polly's wishes. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Lymphoma Research Center, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19428 would be appreciated.
