Peter Comerford

Peter Joseph Comerford, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2020
at Barclay Friends in West Chester, PA. He was born December 13, 1937 in Truxton,
NY. Peter was a graduate of Truxton High School and Morrisville Community
College. He spent the greater part of his career with the New York State Department
of Agriculture as a livestock specialist and visiting professor at Cornell University.
He had a passion for agriculture, animal husbandry and loved working with farmers
throughout the state of New York. He was honored to be named the 1982 NYS Beef
Cattleman of the Year and was most at home living and working on a farm. Peter
was a devout Catholic with an equal devotion to his family and sports. He was
predeceased by his parents, John Earl Comerford and Mary (Aungier) Comerford,
and his sister Anne Battle.
Peter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucia Poletto Comerford. In addition to his
wife, he is survived by his son Michael Earl Comerford (Eileen) and his daughter
Monica Elizabeth Church (John). He is also survived by two sisters, Adele Cloutier
(Calixte) and Jane Comerford, five adoring grandchildren, Delany, Ronan, Keegan,
James and Nora, and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the current health crisis, funeral services are being held privately. A funeral
mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers at this time, the family requests
donations be made to Barclay Friends, 700 North Franklin Street, West Chester, PA
19380.
