Peter George Federico, 83, of West Chester, PA passed on peacefully in the care of his loved ones on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Always present to wish you well or “Ti voglio bene" in his Italian vernacular, he lived a good life faithfully engaged in the friendships, communities and family that he served, inspired and loved so well.
He was a loving husband to Peggie (Connolly) Federico for 58 years together raising their family of five children: Peggie McCarthy (Al), the late Christine Ambrose (Larry), Pete Federico (Angela), Taryn Jones (Craig) and Celeste Mattson (Mark); and further blessed with twenty grandchildren: Brandon and Luis McCarthy; Larry, Jordan, Zach, Celeste, Simon, Faith, Carmel and Solomon Ambrose; Ryan, Alexa and Charley Federico; Samantha, Michael and Dylan Jones; and Julia, Devyn, Jessica and Brian Mattson. Peter enjoyed his time inspiring and entertaining them all with his well told stories and well earned wisdom.
Peter was born on November 26, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA attending Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Lawrence Grade School; with High School study at Monsignor Bonner. He lived in Capri, Italy for two years with his parents (Marcello and Aurelia) and his beloved older brother (John); time and culture that would shape his person and heart. His love for the island and connection to family heritage only grew with each trip he took throughout his life.
He continued his Augustinian education at Villanova University throwing himself into campus life, graduating in 1962 and launching a 60 year career in development that would grow to include other University leadership positions and eventually his own consulting firm in the advancement of many area parishes and schools. Led by his ever present faith, Peter most treasured the opportunity his path provided to lead and work alongside thousands of dedicated volunteers called to encourage one another in the building of God's kingdom. As a devoted parishioner at both SS. Philip and James and SS. Simon and Jude he made his presence and enthusiasm for parish ministry known.
Passionate about learning and experiencing all life had to offer, Peter found much to embrace with his love of fishing, travel, cooking, music and any time spent around the table gathered with family and friends. Summers spent in Sea Isle city recall many fond memories of the beach, boat and Jersey shore in all its glory.
Gratitude for the love, support and sacrifice of his family and faith was prolifically expressed throughout his life, right up to his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, October 22, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000 and 10:30 AM -12:00 noon Monday, October, 23, 2023 at SS.
