Peter J. Kmetz

Peter J. Kmetz, age 64, of Springfield, PA, sadly passed away on September 10, 2024.

Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (née Trocki) Kmetz.

Peter was employed as a drug safety officer in the pharmacology industry, involving the monitoring of product safety and compliance regulations. 

Peter was deeply engaged in the lives of his children, taking immense joy in hearing about their day-to-day experiences and caring for the things that mattered to them. His passion for coaching was evident as he guided his children through all the sports they played, with a special fondness for soccer. Peter dedicated countless afternoons to playing outside with his children after school, instilling in them the joy of active play and family bonding.

A loving father, he made it a priority to attend all of his children’s band concerts, sports events, and important life milestones showcasing his unwavering support and encouragement. Peter loved outdoor vacations spent exploring the beauty of the country with his family, creating lasting memories that would be fondly recalled by all. He especially enjoyed visiting Yellowstone National Park, other various State Parks, as well as Delaware County’s, Ridley Creek State Park.

Peter cherished being present at all his children’s weddings, celebrating these significant moments with warmth and love that defined him. The joy of seeing his children find love and happiness in their own partnerships meant so much to him.

A devoted grandfather to his four grandkids, Peter was affectionately known to them as “PaPa.” His time spent with them was filled with laughter and joy, as he made it his mission to bring happiness into their lives.

In his leisure time, Peter found fulfillment in gardening and nurturing a beautiful yard with thriving plants. His interest in birdwatching led him to create various birdhouses, welcoming returning bird families and delighting in their presence. 

Peter was the beloved husband of Wendy D. (née Ramsey) Kmetz; the loving father of Haley K. McKinney (Holden), Molly J. Martorelli (Steven) and Alex P. Kmetz (Ashley). He was the proud grandfather of Jane McKinney, Elliot McKinney, August Martorelli, and Bodie Martorelli. He was the caring brother of David Kmetz (Kim) and was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Kmetz.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Tuesday evening, September 17, 2024, 6:00 to 7:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300. Interment will be private.
