Peter Thompson, 88, of West Brandywine, PA, formerly of Malvern and Strafford, passed away on December 2, 2016.
Born in 1928 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Edna (nee Spindler) Thompson. Peter served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as the Director of Exports at Campbell Soup until his retirement in 1991. Peter was a member of the Vestry and the Rector's Warden for 3 years at St. Francis in the Fields Church. He was active in the church's organizations and fundraising efforts. Peter devoted his time to others as a volunteer at Brandywine Hospital and for the local swimming Special Olympics. He had a passion for sports and was a former sports official for High School and College swimming and softball. Peter and his wife also founded the Devon Little League for Girls.
Peter was the beloved husband of Suzanne Thompson (nee Coley); loving father of Peter Thompson, Jr. and Jane Willgren; loving grandfather of Annika Willgren; predeceased by his siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Francis in the Fields, 689 Sugartown Rd, Malvern, PA 19355. Interment St. Francis in the Fields Cemetery.
