Peter Witiak, age 91, died on August 21, 2024, in hospice care at Chester County Hospital surrounded by family. Son of the late Peter and Helen Witiak, loving husband of 56 years to the late Annamae Witiak, brother to Eugene and the late Daniel Witiak, he leaves behind his daughter Diane and son Daniel (Eleanor) and three grandsons, Anderson, Peter and Adam.
A U.S. Army veteran, Peter was a machinist by profession and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do with his hands. He had many passions and hobbies during his lifetime, including fishing, woodworking, bottle digging, metal detecting, antiquing, wine making, reading, jigsaw puzzling, and attending auctions. He was quick-witted and a notorious jokester. He was a devoted parishioner to his church, and as one loving friend said, “He was the most enlightened and kindest person I know. He was always available to everyone and always helpful beyond expectation. When a lot of work was mysteriously done in the church, you could be sure Pete did it although he never accepted credit. He is the finest person I know.”
Friends and family are welcome to attend his viewing on Wednesday, August 28 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, 2101 South 28th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145 with services immediately thereafter. Burial will take place at Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
Donations in Peter’s memory can be made to the Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church at the above address.
