Philip Vane

Philip J. de Vane, 62, of Newtown Square, passed away on March 15, 2016.
Born in Blackpool, England in 1953, he was the son of Gerald and the late Joyce (nee Taylor) de Vane.
Philip graduated from the University of Dundee School of Medicine in 1977, coming first in his year. He worked in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee rotating through medical, surgical, psychiatric and maternity departments. In the early 1980's he moved to Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow where he began to specialize in Cardiology. At this time he attained a Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacology.
He moved from hospital based medicine to a research post with the pharmaceutical company Wyeth in England in 1986 and then in 1989 transferred to their USA base in Philadelphia. His last position has been with Astra Zeneca for the past 14 years.
Philip was the beloved husband of Siobhán (nee Hamilton); loving father of Helen, Fiona, Susie, and step-father of Katy; granddad of Dylan, Amira, Jaya, Jayden, Joe, and Zac and step-granddad to Killian and Chloe; father-in-law of Lee, Koy and Jonathan;brother of Thérêse and Kathy, brother in law of Doug and Andrew; and uncle of Henry.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2016 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300.
